Question 1

Can I get a car loan with bad credit near Indianapolis?

Accepted Answer

Yes — and this is something Patton Automotive specializes in. We work with buyers of all credit backgrounds, including bad credit, no credit, and recent bankruptcies. We've helped hundreds of customers across central Indiana get into a reliable vehicle when other dealerships turned them away. Our finance team works with multiple lenders to find you the best available terms for your situation. Your credit score alone doesn't tell your whole story — we look at the full picture. Start your free pre-approval here.

Question 2

Do you offer financing for first-time car buyers?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. First-time buyers are welcome at Patton Automotive. Whether you're a recent graduate, new to Indiana, or have never financed a car before, we'll walk you through the entire process without pressure or confusing jargon. We work with lenders who specialize in first-time buyers. In many cases you can get approved with little or no credit history. Apply online — it's free and takes just a few minutes.

Question 3

How do I get pre-approved for a car loan near Noblesville or Westfield, IN?

Accepted Answer

Getting pre-approved is simple. Fill out our secure online finance application from anywhere — at home in Noblesville, Westfield, or Carmel — and one of our finance consultants will reach out to discuss your options. Pre-approval gives you a clear budget before you start shopping, making the process faster and less stressful. It also lets sellers know you're a serious buyer.

Question 4

What credit score do I need to buy a car at Patton Automotive?

Accepted Answer

There's no minimum credit score requirement to apply. We work with all credit tiers — from excellent to poor, and no credit at all. The terms of your loan will vary based on your profile, but we work hard to get everyone a fair deal that works for their situation. The best thing to do is apply — it's free, there's no obligation, and you might be surprised at what's available.

Question 5

Can I get a car with no money down?

Accepted Answer

In some cases, yes. Low or no-down-payment options depend on your credit history and the vehicle you choose. Customers with stronger credit often qualify for little-to-no money down. Even with challenged credit, a modest down payment can meaningfully improve your monthly payment and loan terms. Call us at (317) 758-9227 (press 1 for Sales) to talk through your specific situation — no pressure, just honest answers.

Question 6

How does your credit-builder auto loan program work?

Accepted Answer

Our goal isn't just to secure you an approval — it's to help improve your long-term financial standing. Through specialized lending relationships with trusted programs like Credit Acceptance, we actively help drivers with challenging credit backgrounds get into quality vehicles. While interest rates on credit-builder loans are traditionally higher, we use this as an opportunity to teach you the fundamentals of credit management. By making consistent, on-time monthly payments, you can systematically raise your score. Our ultimate goal is to help you build that profile so we can welcome you back and refinance into a lower rate and better terms down the road.

Question 7

What lenders and banks does Patton Automotive work with?

Accepted Answer

We work with around a dozen different local and national lenders, including major banks and credit unions. By maintaining a diverse lending network, our finance team can actively search for the most competitive interest rates and loan terms available for your unique credit profile.

Question 8

Can I buy a car if I'm self-employed or have untraditional income?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely. Being self-employed, working a 1099 contract job, or receiving untraditional income should not stop you from getting a reliable vehicle. While many franchise dealerships struggle with non-W2 paperwork, we specialize in verifying income through bank statements, tax returns, or alternative documentation. We recommend bringing your two most recent bank statements or tax documents to help expedite your approval.

Question 9

Can an out-of-state buyer finance a car at your dealership?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We regularly help buyers from all across the United States arrange financing right through our dealership. We can coordinate with your local credit union or utilize our network of national banking partners to secure your loan. Our team handles all out-of-state sales tax paperwork and provides a 45-day temporary license plate so your vehicle arrives ready for your local roads.

Question 10

Where can I find reliable used cars, trucks, and SUVs near Indianapolis?

Accepted Answer

Patton Automotive in Sheridan, IN is one of the top destinations for quality used vehicles in the Indianapolis metro area. We hand-pick every vehicle and inspect and service each one before it hits our lot. We consistently stock popular models like Ford F-150s, Chevy Silverados, Toyota RAV4s, Ford Explorers, Kia Tellurides, and more. Our location is a short drive from Noblesville, Westfield, Carmel, and north Indianapolis.

Question 11

What's the best used SUV under $20,000?

Accepted Answer

Under $20,000 is a great budget for a reliable used SUV. Some of the best options we frequently stock include the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, Chevy Equinox, Subaru Forester, and Hyundai Tucson — all known for strong reliability and low ownership costs. Our inventory changes frequently. Browse our current listings or submit a Car Finder request and we'll alert you when the right vehicle arrives.

Question 12

Are the used vehicles at Patton Automotive inspected before sale?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every vehicle goes through a careful inspection and servicing process before it's offered for sale. We hand-pick each car or truck from dealer auctions or private sellers, and our service department checks and addresses any issues first to ensure a long-lasting, reliable vehicle. We also provide a completely free CARFAX Vehicle History Report for every vehicle on our lot — viewable directly on each vehicle's listing page by clicking the CARFAX logo.

Question 13

What if you don't have the vehicle I'm looking for?

Accepted Answer

We offer two options depending on how involved you want to be: Car Finder Program — Submit your criteria (make, model, year range, features, budget) through our Car Finder Request Form and we'll search and notify you when the right vehicle becomes available. VCE — Looking for something very specific? While our Car Finder program does the searching for you, our Vehicle Concierge Experience puts you in the driver's seat. Meet one-on-one with Blake or Dan for a personalized appointment where you'll actively participate in the search process, exploring available vehicles from trusted nationwide sources, comparing options, reviewing vehicle details, and narrowing down the perfect fit based on your exact preferences. It's a premium, hands-on experience designed for customers who have a keen eye for detail, know exactly what they want, or simply want to be part of the journey of finding their next vehicle. Call today to schedule your Vehicle Concierge appointment with Blake or Dan and let us help you find the perfect match.

Question 14

Do you offer warranties or protection plans on your used cars?

Accepted Answer

Like most independent dealers, we sell vehicles as-is, but we offer strong protection options at two levels. ASC Third-Party Warranty: comprehensive coverage through a reputable nationwide company, including 24-hour roadside assistance, free towing, a rental car allowance, and a $0 deductible. Patton Service Contracts: our own affordable option starting at just $595 — 3-month or 3,000-mile limited protection plans at three tiered levels, usable directly at our Sheridan repair facility. Ask any of our sales staff what plans your specific vehicle qualifies for.

Question 15

Can I have a used car inspected by my own mechanic before buying?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we highly encourage it. Every vehicle on our lot is already inspected and serviced before listing, but we welcome you to have it looked at by your own trusted mechanic prior to purchase. Please contact our sales team ahead of time to coordinate your pre-purchase inspection appointment.

Question 16

Does Patton Automotive deliver vehicles out of state?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we deliver anywhere in the United States. Local deliveries within Hamilton County are typically free of charge. For out-of-state buyers, delivery runs at a flat rate of $1.50 per mile one-way, where our team drives the vehicle directly to your driveway. For longer cross-country distances, we use professional car hauler transport trailers. Before any shipment, we film a detailed walk-around video documenting any cosmetic imperfections so there are zero surprises when your vehicle arrives. Call for a delivery estimate.

Question 17

Can I trade in a car if I still owe money on the loan?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We accept trade-ins even if your current vehicle isn't fully paid off. Our team will calculate your vehicle's equity, contact your lender for the official payoff amount, and handle all the paperwork. If you owe more than the vehicle is worth (negative equity), we can often roll that remaining balance into the financing on your next vehicle.

Question 18

Where do you source your used car, truck, and SUV inventory?

Accepted Answer

We are selective about the vehicles we allow onto our lot. Inventory is hand-picked from trusted dealer auctions, reputable private party sellers, and clean local trade-ins here in central Indiana. We focus on sourcing clean, well-maintained, lower-owner vehicles that pass our strict mechanical and safety baselines.

Question 19

What documents do I need to bring to buy a car?

Accepted Answer

To make your purchase as quick and seamless as possible, bring: A valid driver's license, Current proof of auto insurance, Your down payment (if applicable), Title and registration if you are trading in a vehicle, and Two most recent paystubs or bank statements (if financing).

Question 20

Where can I find a good used minivan or 3rd-row SUV near Noblesville or Carmel, IN?

Accepted Answer

Patton Automotive in Sheridan is a go-to source for used minivans and 3rd-row SUVs serving families throughout Hamilton County. We regularly stock Honda Odysseys, Chrysler Pacificas, Toyota Siennas, Dodge Grand Caravans, Honda Pilots, Toyota Highlanders, and Chevrolet Traverses. These vehicles offer tremendous family value — lots of seating, storage, and safety features at a fraction of the cost of buying new.

Question 21

What's the most reliable used family vehicle to buy?

Accepted Answer

The most consistently reliable used family vehicles we see are the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, Toyota RAV4, Honda Pilot, and Ford Explorer (especially AWD options). Toyota and Honda consistently top reliability rankings with lower long-term maintenance costs. If budget is the main concern, the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Pacifica offer outstanding value — plenty of room at a lower price point. Reach out and our team will help you compare options.

Question 22

What is the difference between AWD and 4WD?

Accepted Answer

All-Wheel Drive (AWD) operates automatically without driver input, constantly monitoring traction and distributing power to the wheels that need it most — ideal for everyday driving on slick Indiana roads. Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) is typically found on trucks and rugged SUVs and requires the driver to manually engage it by locking the front and rear axles together. It's built for deep snow, muddy terrain, or heavy-duty towing rather than daily commuting.

Question 23

Do your used family vehicles include modern safety features?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the vast majority of our late-model family SUVs and minivans come equipped with modern safety technology. Vehicle listings on our website describe features like backup cameras, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and Bluetooth connectivity. Our team is happy to walk you through a vehicle's specific features during your test drive.

Question 26

Do you offer financing for vehicle repairs and maintenance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Patton Automotive offers promotional financing through Synchrony Car Care — 6 months at 0% interest on qualifying service purchases of $199 or more when using an eligible Synchrony Car Care account. This can help make unexpected repairs and routine maintenance more manageable by spreading payments over time. Contact our service advisors for details on eligibility and how to apply, or call (317) 758-9227 and press 2 for Service. Subject to credit approval. Terms and conditions apply.

Question 27

Do you offer vehicle towing for service appointments?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If your vehicle has broken down or won't start, contact us and we'll help arrange towing to our facility for diagnosis and repair.

Question 28

What types of automotive services do you provide?

Accepted Answer

Our service facility handles everything from routine maintenance to complex diagnostics and mechanical repairs, including: oil changes and tire rotations, tire replacement and wheel alignments, brake pad and rotor service, battery testing and installation, engine diagnostics and repair, transmission servicing, suspension and steering components, water pump replacement, and air conditioning repair.

Question 29

Do you offer loaner cars while my vehicle is being serviced?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we offer an affordable rental car program for just $19.99 a day to keep you on the road during major repairs. These are older, dependable vehicles (not brand-new luxury models), but they provide an exceptionally cost-effective option to get you to work or school while your vehicle is in our shop. Rental availability is limited, so please call our service advisors ahead of time to reserve a vehicle for your appointment date.

Question 30

Where can I find a trusted auto repair shop near Westfield, Noblesville, or Carmel?

Accepted Answer

Patton Automotive is a trusted destination for automotive maintenance and repair serving drivers in the Sheridan area — a short drive from Westfield, Noblesville, Carmel, and north Indianapolis. Our experienced service team is committed to quality workmanship and honest advice without high-pressure upselling. Call (317) 758-9227 and press 2 for Service to schedule an appointment.

Question 31

Why is routine vehicle maintenance important?

Accepted Answer

Regular maintenance extends the life of your vehicle, improves fuel efficiency, enhances safety, and reduces the likelihood of costly repairs down the road. Following your manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule is one of the best investments you can make in your vehicle.

Question 32

How often should I get my oil changed?

Accepted Answer

As a general guideline, conventional oil should be changed every 3,000 miles and full synthetic every 5,000 miles. While some manufacturers specify up to 10,000 miles for synthetic, we recommend servicing every 5,000 miles to maintain peak engine performance and maximize engine life. The exact oil type your engine requires (such as 5W-20 or 0W-20 synthetic) is determined by your vehicle's manufacturer — our technicians always verify the correct weight and grade for your specific vehicle.

Question 33

What causes a car battery to die, and how often should it be replaced?

Accepted Answer

Car batteries typically last 3 to 5 years. Extreme temperature swings — like harsh Indiana winters and hot summers — gradually degrade internal components and reduce charge capacity. Other common causes include leaving interior lights on overnight or frequent short trips that don't give your alternator enough time to recharge the battery. We offer fast battery testing and replacement at our Sheridan facility.

Question 34

Why is my Check Engine Light on, and is it safe to keep driving?

Accepted Answer

A solid Check Engine Light means your vehicle's computer has detected a fault. Schedule a diagnostic appointment soon — but it's typically safe to drive home first. A flashing Check Engine Light is a different story. Pull over safely and turn off the engine immediately. A flashing light indicates a severe engine misfire that can cause catastrophic internal damage. Contact us right away to arrange towing.

Question 35

How do I know if my vehicle needs brake service?

Accepted Answer

Common warning signs include squealing or grinding noises when braking, vibration in the brake pedal or steering wheel, increased stopping distance, or a brake warning light on your dashboard. If you notice any of these, schedule a brake inspection as soon as possible.

Question 36

How often should I replace my brake pads and rotors?

Accepted Answer

Brake pads typically last between 30,000 and 70,000 miles depending on your driving habits. Stop-and-go commuting wears brakes faster than highway driving. If you notice squealing, grinding, or a spongy pedal, bring your vehicle in for an inspection at our Sheridan facility.

Question 37

What is a wheel alignment, and how do I know if my vehicle needs one?

Accepted Answer

A wheel alignment adjusts your vehicle's wheel angles back to manufacturer specifications, ensuring tires make even, straight contact with the road. Signs you need an alignment include your car pulling left or right while driving straight, uneven or rapid tire tread wear, or a crooked steering wheel when going straight. Proper alignments prevent premature tire wear and save you money in the long run.

Question 43

Why are there owls on top of some of the cars on your lot?
